Mean, Median and Mode Calculator
Paste a list of numbers to get the three common measures of the middle of a data set, plus the range.
Your result will appear here.
How it's calculated
The mean is the sum divided by the count. The median is the middle value once the numbers are sorted; with an even count it's the average of the two middle values. The mode is the value that appears most often, and a list can have more than one. The range is the largest value minus the smallest.
When a few very large or small values pull the mean away from the rest, the median is usually the better summary.
How to do it in Excel
=AVERAGE(A2:A10)- Mean.
=MEDIAN(A2:A10)- Median.
=MODE.MULT(A2:A10)- Every mode. MODE.SNGL returns only the first one.
=MAX(A2:A10)-MIN(A2:A10)- Range.
